December 2019 we sold our 3000 square foot home of 23 years and we had 8 days to move out and move into a fully furnished condo on Lake Oswego.  Mind you, we are just renters, so we couldn’t imagine how much effort and money it would take to reinvent this 1000 square foot condo.   December 7, I called Jaclyn Kaba, Valon Design Studio, to come to view the condo and provide counsel. With her keen eye and talent for seeing past what was, and create what could be she assured us that she could design a mini Hampton lake house within our suggested budget.  There was just one little thing…we had to negotiate with the owner remove all of the furniture so we could repaint and add new carpet in order to design our dream lake house. Thankfully, the owner agreed and Jaclyn was challenged with the most ridiculous timeline. Jaclyn had 7 days to our move-in date to select paint and carpet and then actually paint the entire condo and do a custom instillation before the carpet could be installed. In addition she purchased/ordered the essentials we would need to get us through the initial design phase.  You see, all we brought to our new home were our clothes, some art pieces and a couple of mirrors.  Jaclyn researched, designed and selected every piece that you see in the photos on the website of our new condo paradise on the lake. I should have told you initially...I do not have a design bone in my body.  So I needed a designer that I could trust.  One that could quickly assess my husband and my essence for what we dreamed would be a home that felt like a vacation home, but more importantly, reflected our personality.  She brought masculine and feminine together so perfectly with high-end items and some antique flare.   When we started this journey, we couldn’t imagine how we could downsize from 3000 sq ft to 1000.  But, by placing our trust in Jaclyn’s design capability, what she revealed upon completion, was much more than we could ever imagine.  Her attention to emphasizing small living and creativity when it came to storage space makes our home feel so much bigger than it really is.   Saying, “Thank you”, just isn’t enough. Jaclyn changed our lives with the completion of this beautiful home, surround by her intent to create it for… and with us...brought so much peace, love and calmness in what could have been a catastrophic beginning, but ended as the most amazing fairy tale story. My husband and I started our business from the ground up, meaning we had a clean slate to decide how we wanted everything to look. There is good and bad in that, good that you can pick everything out yourself, also bad that you can pick everything out yourself. How overwhelming! 

I reached out to Jaclyn because I had always admired everything she put together, from a dessert table to an entire room. Some people just have that touch, and she is definitely the best out there. She wasn't overwhelmed by our empty space, she was inspired, and confident and gave me so much assurance that everything was going to come together, and it did.
